STORY INTRODUCTION
亨利·德威特·凯里二世（1878年1月16日—1947年9月21日）是美国演员，默片时代最早的超级巨星之一，常以西部英雄形象示人。其最著名的表演之一是在剧情片《史密斯先生到华盛顿》（1939）中饰演美国参议院议长，并凭此角色获奥斯卡最佳男配角奖提名。
他是著名演员小哈里·凯里的父亲。出生于纽约市，父亲是特别法庭法官兼缝纫机公司总裁。在纽约市城市岛长大，曾就读汉密尔顿军事学院，后放弃西点军校的录取资格进入纽约大学法学院，同学包括未来的纽约市长詹姆斯·J·沃克。一次划船事故导致他罹患肺炎，康复期间创作剧本并巡演三年获利颇丰，但因后续剧本失败而耗尽积蓄。
1911年，在朋友亨利·B·沃索尔引荐下结识导演D·W·格里菲斯，此后参演其多部作品。经历两次婚姻，第二任妻子是女演员奥利芙·富勒·戈尔登（艺名奥利芙·凯里），她将凯里引荐给后来成为导演的约翰·福特。凯里促成环球影业负责人卡尔·莱姆勒启用福特执导影片，二人开启长期合作，直至1921年关系破裂。此间凯里成长为早期电影界最受欢迎的西部片明星，偶尔也参与编剧和导演工作。三十年代逐渐转型为性格演员，并凭《史密斯先生到华盛顿》中参议院议长一角获奥斯卡提名。1936年与福特再度合作《鲨岛逃生记》，1948年在霍华德·霍克斯执导的《红河》中与儿子小哈里·凯里同框演出。长期受肺气肿与癌症折磨后逝世，福特在其重拍版《荒漠三雄》（1948）片头题献“献给哈里·凯里——西部苍穹的璀璨晨星”。
